I recently had my A/C serviced by Cates and was very pleased with their service. They both emailed and texted me reminders for the appointment and several more texts about technician arrival. One thing that I thought was really nice was they emailed a photo of tech so I knew who was coming.
Overall, am very pleased with them! 😁👍

I am a new customer to Cates Heating and Cooling and recently had my AC tune-up completed. The technician arrived on time and thoroughly explained everything he was going to do during the service. He truly went above and beyond compared to other HVAC companies I’ve used in the past.

What really stood out was the attention to detail — he took the time to properly wash the coils from the inside out and made sure everything was running perfectly before leaving. I also appreciated that there was absolutely no pressure or upselling. He simply came in, did the job right, and provided excellent service.

I will definitely continue using Cates Heating and Cooling for all my HVAC needs and highly recommend them to anyone looking for honest, professional service.

I had my yearly AC tune up today and had awesome service. I wanted to give a shoutout to Shawn B who was my technician today. Shawn completed my tune up this morning, but called later in the afternoon to inform me he wanted to come back to make sure he didn't miss a step from earlier. This kind of accountability and integrity is rare and shows how great the employees at Cates are. Would absolutely recommend this team!

We installed a new AC Unit last fall. Cates did the full install and n provided exceptional customer service. They come out every 6 months to dona system check. Don C provided the same excellent customer service we received during install and demonstrated how to replace the new air filters. I highly recommend Cates for your heating and cooling needs.

First of all, after meeting with two other companies, it was clear to my wife and I that Cates was head and shoulders above the rest. Matt was organized listened to our needs. He used a laptop to document what we wanted and then used out the applications to work and provided various comparisons of different units.
Once we decided on Cates and the unit for our home, scheduling was easy and predictable but most of all dependable. Matt oversaw all the work which gave us great peace of mind.
I cannot recommend Cates highly enough!!! This five star rating is well deserved!

I recently had Walter from Cates Heating and Cooling come out to look at my broken thermostat. He could not have been nicer, more knowledgeable, and helpful. He went the extra mile to diagnose the situation, even twice going out for extra parts to ensure the job was done correctly and in one stop. 5 stars!

I’ve been a satisfied customer of Cate’s Service for several years now. I’m a member of their “”Comfort Plan”, which I get both a AC & furnace preventitivr maintenance inspection and cleaning. In addition, I receive 10% savings on repairs, priority service calls, and no emergency service rates on nights and weekends.

I have my residence and rental properties on this plan. I believe I’ve received honest advice and service from Cates. I called them years ago for a 2nd opinion to make an over $1,000 repair recommendation from a company that says you can trust them with your house keys. Cates said there was nothing wrong that needed repaired. I FIRED that company, & have been with Cates ever since. I believe regular service and maintenance prolongs my HVAC equipment.

I’ve also purchased 2 complete HVAC systems from Cates, and those experiences were both reasonably priced and positive.

I have no reservations in giving Cates my highest recommendation. And those that know me understand I’m not an easy customer to deal with. They’ve earned my trust and my business. It’s hard to find an honest repair service. So far I’ve been very satisfied!!

The technician, Randy Ochoa, who performed the necessary adjustments to my furnace, did so with total professionalism, was courteous and polite, answered all my questions. We definitely will be using Cates Heating & Cooling for all our future needs.
John A.
Our service tech, Brian was punctual, professional and knowledgeable. He explained the process for the work being done. Upon completion he cleaned the area and provided me a full description of the work completed.
Robert S.
Cates is a great customer experience. We have signed up as regular maintenance customers, but recently experienced a problem with our furnace starting up. Both Randy and Walter came out to diagnose the problem and Walter determined the cause was a critical electronic component. He discussed the cost up front and compared it to replacing the system without any pressure to go either way. We ended up opting for the repair, and he was able to get it installed and the system is working perfectly, confirming his diagnosis. He was very patient with my harebrained homeowner ideas that proved to be wrong. This could have been an opportunity to upsell several maintenance items we didn't need, but that's not how Cates does business. I appreciate the team and look forward to giving them our business when we are ready to replace the system.
Frank S.
Randy was very efficient and helpful. He arrived at the appointed time. He made several suggestions regarding one of our furnaces but did not apply any pressure. We have been very satisfied with Cates Service for 25 years.
Jon N.
Another great experience with Cates. Their technician was knowledgeable and explained any issues. Michael Dobson was friendly and caring. He made a recommendation to replace a part and explained why. Highly recommend Cates.
Sean M.
Cates has always been absolutely amazing in our experience from estimate, purchase, and maintenance. The Carrier two-zone system we has installed manages the temperatures of the upstairs and downstairs perfectly. We haven’t had a single breakdown in the years since purchase. The closest thing was a weak capacitor during the Spring tune up that was replaced before failure. Our service contract has kept us free of concerns from day one.
Tim W.
Had my annual winter check up with Cates for the first time. Technician was punctual and friendly, very knowledgeable and thorough. Definitely going to continue to use them for my HVAC needs.
Judy S.
Cates has been out HVAC company for years. This year's technician was great. He was early but checked to be sure the time was convenient. He was efficient and neat.
Chris
Walter was very knowledgeable. He had a great personality, friendly and not give me the runaround. Would hire him again.
Tim L.
Kyle Babb was great! Diagnosed the problem quickly and got our heater up and running in no time.

Had my two furnaces serviced for Fall today by Walter Lewis, sr technician. Walter is not only a highly experienced HVAC expert but he also maintains professional appearance, behavior and is careful in my home. I am grateful for his patience when I ask questions and he explains in a clear manner. I highly recommend Walter to any customer who wants an expert technician and reassurance that you will get thorough service. You can count on Walter.
Robert M.
Kyle Babb was excellent. Courteous; Friendly; Knowledgeable; Understanding and Thorough. He did more on an annual checkup for my A/C than any other tech ever has. There is a difference between just "getting it done" and "doing it right". Kyle did it right. I will be requesting him for all service in the future.
On the other hand, I can't say anything good about the service manager that I spoke with while Kyle was here.
Kyle saved me as a customer for you guys in spite of the service managers lip service / excuses. (my opinion)
Christele M.
We had a great experience having Cates install our new furnace. The sales person, Greg, was knowledgeable and followed up to make sure everything went well. We recommend them to anyone!
Jerry W.
Jacob Alvarado, Cates Technician, did a masterful Spring tune-up for us a few days ago. He presents a good appearance, has a great attitude, and is very friendly and professional while going about his work.
All questions answered and job well done. Thank you Jacob.
Mindy H.
Cates heating and cooling are reliable and honest. Ive been using them for over 20 years and have never had an issue. JacobA was my tech this time and he is very personable and answered all my questions.
Michael H.
Had the spring tune-up from Cates Service last week. The service was excellent! The technician, Luke Ochs, coordinated a follow-up visit the same day from Vincent Polanski, a Lead Installer, to help resolve an issue with the air filter on the furnace. Vincent was resourceful and made alterations to make it easier to change the filter. Great customer service!
Tex H.
The house has been covered by Cates since 1973. Always prompt always reliable. The last couple of technicians we have had Dillon and Derek, have been informative and speedy, clear and consistent. Highly recommend.
Al S.
I had similar experience as others with Hometown "Hustlers" as they are far from heros. Hometown literally turned my furnace off and said they could call fire department on me! And lied about my new water heater having lines backward. Fortunately I called Cates. Greg was there in half an hour, furnace was fine. DO NOT TRUST THE FOLKS FROM HOMETOWN HUSTLERS!
Melissa F.
Yesterday, I was told by another company (NOT Cates) that I had a dangerous situation in my home related to a high carbon monoxide reading and cracks in my heat exchangers. They called for back up and a second technician came to do another reading, which also supposedly came back very high. After a lot of drama and scare tactics, they tried to sell me a 14,000 NEW furnace. Instead, I had a second company come out (Cates Heating and Cooling) Fortunately, they were there right away as my house was starting to get pretty chilly due to the former company's scare that I could be endangering my family by keeping my heat on. Within a short period of time, I was told that my carbon monoxide reading in the open air was 1 and within the system, nothing more than 20. They also informed that when this is actually a problem, I have a 20 year warranty on those exchangers. I feel so grateful to the techician and to Derek at Cates for their prompt and honest service and for putting my mind at ease. I highly recommend Cates Heating and Cooling for all of your HVAC needs.
Michael R.
Kyler, the tech who came out today was great! He went above and beyond just the replacement of parts. Not only does my HVAC work like new again but improved my thermostat setting to make my home more comfortable. My thanks too to Paul who came out on a Sunday and to the other tech who not only diagnosed the problem on Monday but helped give Cates' office workers what they needed to get the parts ordered quickly and to get the parts covered under the warranty. Super team job!!!
Dave S.
Our service tech, Jake, was on time, professional and explained everything well. When it came to work that needed to be done he explained why and discussed costs before proceeding. He's a good representative of the company - and he liked our cat. :)
Suzy S
I love Cates, fine company and great employees. Jacob Alvarado serviced my heat pumps today. What a great guy: hard working and professional. If you’re looking to replace your heat pumps. I highly recommend Cates.
Jon N.
We have been Cates customers for over 20 years. Their service and knowledgeable associates is impeccable. Jake Alvarado has been our HVAC serviceman the past several years. He is great! He recommends options for needed repairs and really cares about the customer. I highly recommend Jake and Cates for your HVAC needs.
Robert H.
Had my furnace serviced today for the winter. Jacob checked everything out, replaced a filter and pad and completed the tune up within 30 minutes. I’ve had a service contract with Cates for years with no complaints. They’ve helped me get the most from my old AC and furnace units. I highly recommend them.
Roger & Laura H.
I recently had my semi-annual check-up for my furnace and a nice technician named Paul was here to do that. I have to give him 5 stars for being very personable, knowledgeable and willing to explain exactly what he was doing. I appreciated that and sincerely hope he will be the one to service my furnace again in the spring.
Mark S.
When our AC went out as was beyond repair. Cates was fast in getting us back up and running. Their install team was thorough, caring, personal and made sure we were satisfied with the work they preformed. Cates also followed up with us after a few day to make sure we were happy
Christopher H.
I have been with Cates for almost 40 years. They have serviced my AC and heat during this time. Cates has been there to assist for several “emergency” situations.

Their technicians are always on time, very thorough in their work and take time at the conclusion of the job to share with you the details of the job. Friendly and helpful is the rule for their technicians! I have never wanted anyone else besides Cates to provide my HVAC needs.
First L.
I met with Pat on Tuesday and was given options to replace 35 yr old furnace and 25 yr old A/C in my price range . Pat left me with the offers to consider. I called Pat to accept bid and job was scheduled the next Monday. Randy lead installer and helper removed old HVAC and left me with a professional and neatly installed HVAC. I was happy with the whole process.
Jerry W.
Jacob Alvarado, Cates Technician, did a masterful fall tune-up for us a few days ago. He presents a good appearance, has a great attitude, and is very friendly and professional while going about his work.
All questions answered and job well done. Thank you Jacob.
Leslie G.
I have used Cates for 20 years. They are dependable, knowledgeable, efficient, and great to work with. They never disappoint. Today.Kylar is doing my fall furnace check. I can add him to the Long list of wonderful technicians that have provided services. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my HVAC needs.
Jo Anne T.
We recently had a new furnace and air conditioner installed by Cates Heating and Cooling. Randy and Gilbert were on time, very courteous and professional, and fixed several issues we were not aware of. Great experience and recommend this company.
Janet M.
Cates has served us for over four decades with excellence and friendliness. We have had other vendors solicit our business, but Cates is like family to us and we appreciate the high quality they provide in our heating and cooling needs.
Maynard C.
Kyler McGowen, did our Fall furnace check up today and installed a new humidifier saddle valve. As always, he did an excellent job with the Check up and the repair. He was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. it is always a pleasure to have him as our service technician. I recommend him without reservations For anyone needing heating and cooling service.
Chad W.
Cate's was fantastic to work with. Every one of their technicians was thorough and experienced and worked with me throughout a long process to make sure everything was repaired and replaced correctly. 24-hour service line with people who are knowledgeable and very helpful to keep everyone coordinating with one another. They tested their work and made sure the unit was functioning exactly how it should once the unit was installed.

I worked with Pat Marsh and he was incredibly helpful with informing me and giving me the knowledge I needed to make the right decision regarding my AC and furnace, coordinating with me during the long process of getting it repaired and eventually replaced through my apartment complex, making sure that I got the unit that I needed, and making sure that my unit was installed with care and attention to detail. He was great to work with, along with every other technician who came out to work on my unit.

It is difficult to find businesses that do high quality work with high quality service and don't take shortcuts. I trust Cates to make sure I'm getting what I'm actually paying for. I would highly recommend Cates to anyone, can't go wrong here.
James M.
I've used Cates for regular maintenance for over 15 years and always pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of the technicians and all staff. Recently I had an AC issue on a Saturday and received a quick response from Kyle who came over promptly and the diagnosis and repair was so smooth and efficient and all covered under my warranty. Cates has served me well in both maintenance, new installation, and repairs that gives me peace of mind.
Anthony S.
During the weekend our AC stopped working hours before family was coming into town. We reached out to Cates and they sent the best. Dillin Roberts had us fixed within an hour. Professional, polite, and honest and I feel much better with our new maintenance program. 6 stars if I could.
Larry F.
We had a very good experience with CATES' service technician, Jeff. He arrived promptly, was very friendly, courteous, very knowledgeable, skilled, and professional. We were extremely happy with his outstanding performance and would highly recommend his excellent service.
Ann M.
Cates heating and cooling took care of us when our A/C went down on hot July days. They came immediately ( we have a service agreement with them) , diagnosed we needed a new Heat pump. Pat Smart came the same day and offered us options for replacement. Derek and Noah installed the unit in an efficient way. They cleaned up and very friendly and professional. Highly recommend Cates.
J.J. O.
We’ve used Cates for years now and have always been expressed with the service we have received. We had a warranty issue during Junes heatwave and the part had to come from the factory. As soon as the parts were here we got a call to repair 2 hours later. Dillan was our service technician nice and polite and didn’t leave till we were cooling down. Within 12 hours our 87 degree house was a comfortable 72!
Thanks Cates
Jennifer K.
We recently had an AC outage occur in a weekend, not only did Cates send someone out that day to evaluate the issue but when it was discovered that there was an issue with the original install, they covered the fix at no charge and they were so quick to get us scheduled. Our recent technician, Dillin, did a great job of keeping us informed, worked efficiently, and was very friendly. It’s experiences like this that keep us loyal Cates customers.
Kevin T.
Cates does a great job! We use them for both residential and business needs. Jeff was our most recent service technician, and he was very helpful and educated me on maintaining our HVAC system. Highly recommend!
Trevor J.
Dillin cleaned out the a/c and checked the system thoroughly. When I asked about a noise he ensured the issue was resolved before leaving. He was professional, courteous, and knew what he was doing. Cates has done very well every time
John F
First time using Cates for our air conditioner issue. We will be a repeat customer for sure. Their response time was quick. The service tech, Jeff, was great! After he was done, he mentioned an annual maintenance program that we will seriously consider. Thank you!!
Corey I.
I called Cates for a second opinion after being told my A/C was beyond repair. Their professional team had a technician to my house the same day. 2 hours later my A/C was running perfectly. Thank you Cates for being trustworthy and honest
Alecia C.
We have used Cates for years both personally and professionally! Derek and his whole service team are so great at what they do!!! We had an AC unit that we struggled with for years but no one could tell us why. Derek came out to our residence and discovered that it was not only too small its location was not ideal. From start to finish we had a new unit in a week and have only had good experiences with Cates since!!
Terri C.
We had been struggling for a year with our HVAC unit that was installed by our builder 8 years ago. We hired Cates to help solve the problem and they did what they could with the equipment. This year we decided to change out the entire system and again chose Cates. Greg was exceptional in working to find us the best option for our home and visited our home 4 times before installation. The installation team was professional, courteous and took care of our home. All went smoothly and we are delighted.
jarhead771
Had a new furnace installed. Vince and Noah did a great job! They were informative, very pleasant, and courteous! Cleaned up the work area very well! Highly recommend them and Cates!
Peg N.
Can't count the number of years we have relied on Cates, spring and fall, to keep us hot or cold, depending on the season. Cates people are always polite, respectful, calm, have plenty of time to answer questions. In all these years we only had to call once because of an emergency, and someone came right away. Cates is the best.
David L.
Dillin was very professional, charming and hard working. I hardly noticed them working, they were very quiet and kept the house clean. We immediately noticed the difference with the new system working.
Anne R.
Over the MLK holiday weekend, with the extremely cold weather, my brand new furnace began to malfunction. I called Cates on Saturday and Vincent was here by noon. He got the furnace running, but was concerned that the problem might not be solved. He left his contact information in case of further problems. Mid-afternoon, it was clear that the furnace was still not heating correctly. Vincent returned and worked diligently to determine what the problem was. He stayed for several hours to make sure we had heat and our pipes wouldn't freeze overnight. He also diagnosed the problem and corrected it so that we have had no further issues. He went above and beyond to help us on that bitterly cold holiday weekend and we are extremely thankful for his dedication and strong work ethic! Cates is a great HVAC company!
Jonathan S.
Several family members use Cates Heating & Cooling and we decided to come back for a seasonal tune-up after using them in the past. We got onto the schedule within a week and just wrapped up our appointment with Kyle Adams. He was awesome. He was on time, ensured everything was running smoothly, he reattached our furnace cover, and replaced our humidifier filter. He couldn't have been nicer and worked efficiently. We've always had great help from Cates, and we'll be asking for him moving forward!
Timmy L.
The heat went out this morning. It was 7 BELOW zero this morning in Lenexa. Thankfully I have a contract with Cates Heating & Cooling Heating and Cooling. I called at 6 am and Ethan got here at 8:30 am. Ethan found the problem, got the needed part and had the heat on in about 2.5 hours. My wife and I have been using Cates for more than 30 years and I’m sure glad I had them today. It got down to 55 degrees in the house.
Peg N.
Jake arrived at 8am and did a very detailed checkup of the furnace system. He was very patient to answer all my questions. Thank u Jake for a great job.
Jane D.
Mr Alvarado from Cates came to due the winter check up on my furnace and was wonderful. He cleaned and inspected more than I had ever experience before. And when I asked about my
Original thermostate not holding steady, he showed me some options and went through them with me. We picked out the best one for me and in no time. It was installed and I am extremely pleased and happy with the service and the now consistent heat in my house. Thank you, Mr Alvarado and Cates.
Lauren D.
We had our HVAC installed by Cates during the summer of 2020, and had nothing but a seamless experience. Afterwards, we had our annual tune-ups performed by another local company whom we had used in the past. However, we recently felt that this other company had misled us with the intention to upsell on unnecessary services that were related to the install. We called Cates to validate our concerns and they stood by their work. We’ll now be using Cates for all of our HVAC needs!
Herndon H.
We had a LOUD noise in our furnace. Our service representative , Sean, diagnosed a fairly complicated problem within 15 minutes, ordered the parts needed immediately. A problem that had existed for some time was taken care of by a true repair professional in 24 hours. We've been w/ Cates for more than 30 years. This service from them only reinforces our decision to work with people who " get it". You want results, call these guys.
Debbie G.
Jacob Alvarado was great. He identified a problem with my flue pipe. Lucky me that he found it. He scheduled a very reasonably priced service call to fix it. Thank you Jacob. Deb Geraghty
Chase W.
Kylar and Kyle came to install a new air scrubber and helped catch some severe damage a previous company missed while installing. They prevented a much larger issue with their thoroughness. Great guys, great company, will be going back
James H.
My go to team. Kylar was great. He did a fabulous job on our installation. Will call Cates and request him next time.
Alaina D.
I called Cates this morning due to my AC going out. Ethan arrived within 2 hrs of me placing the call for service. He fixed the issue and was professional. I highly recommend Cates Heating & Cooling for your needs.
tredburn08
We received a quote for an HVAC replacement from Cates. Ultimately, we ended up choosing a different company, but I want to praise the level of friendliness, care, and professionalism that our estimator, Dan showed.

He was very knowledgeable and shared that knowledge to give us a great understanding of the terminology around the business and what the process would entail. Prices were very competitive and I would highly recommend this company based on my experience.
Douglas D.
We have had Cates' yearly combined inspections of our furnace and AC systems for the past two years now. The AC inspection was completed by Kylar yesterday, and we are very pleased with the thoroughness and knowledgeable service he provided. Our furnace and AC systems are quite old (installed 22 years ago when we built this house), and we're trying to stretch out their functional lives as long as possible. Thus far, they work just fine, and the house is so well insulated that we place little demand on these appliances. But a regular thorough inspection by someone who knows what to evaluated and has the tools and skills to do this is very helpful for gauging how long we can expect to go before replacement. That's what we appreciate most about our service contract with Cates.
Pat B.
Cates has been our service people since 2010 (?) in two different homes. They have always been dependable and efficient. Highly recommended.
Charlie R.
We needed multiple repairs including the replacement of our in home water pressure regulator, faucet installations, leak repair, clogged drains, toilet repairs and outdoor faucet repair. Our plumber, Brett Freeman, was great. He works efficiently and hard. He is super nice and very good at explaining all of his work along the way. Our problems took 5 or 6 days to resolve. We are super satisfied with our plumber and his work. Next time we'll ask for him by name. Charlie and Chris
Karen K.
I have a warranty with Cates. They are always very responsive and timely and professional! They take care of everything in A/C and plumbing for a very reasonable fee. Thanks!
Jay P.
We had a Furnace and A/C replaced and they did a great job. They were on time and the tear out and installation caused very little disruption. They cleaned up after they were finished. Perfect. Great company!!!
Richard B.
We have been Cates customer for a long time. We decided it was time to replace our 20 year old A/C. Sales manager Greg was very thorough in explaining our options and gave us a nice discount for being long customer. Installers were very efficient and professional and were conscientious about keeping our house clean during their work even tho it was rainy outside. My wife and I were very satisfied with their work and with the new Carrier A/C that we hope to enjoy for the next 20 years. Richard in Overland Park
John W.
My wife and I had numerous bids from a few local heating and cooling companies. One of those bids was with Cates. A service manager (Chuck) came out and looked at our old water heater and gave us a bid for replacement. This bid was not the lowest but he made us feel comfortable about his knowledge of water heaters. We called and set up a installation date and on that day Jake came out and replaced the water heater with a new one. We are happy with the attention we got and all questions answered in a professional manner. Thankyou Cates..job well done!
.
stefanie G.
Professional, prompt and fairly priced. They went above and beyond when installing our new furnace to replace the corroded and improperly installed one that came with the house we bought earlier this year. They even took care of a few related tasks to bring our heating system up to code and didn’t charge us a penny above bid. Very happy with our new furnace which is way more efficient than the original one.
Annette J.
We have used Cates for preventative heat/cool maintenance for several years, but finally needed heat/cool replacement with surprise water heater replacement. They were very responsive with next day installation. Great overall experience!
EJF
Absolutely fantastic! After dealing with 3 other A/C companies I was a bit nervous about hiring anyone as I had been lied to about what I needed. Finally, another company Temperature Pro (also very good - but couldn't install the unusual system we needed at the time) recommended Cates. That said a lot to me - if someone in the business says that is who they would use - spoke volumes. From the very beginning Pat Marsh in sales to the installers - a father and son team- (Preston and sorry I can't remember the Dad's name!) were outstanding! The epitome of customer service and professionalism. Could not have been happier. Timely, tidy and very well versed in everything HVAC. This was a really big job and they were super efficient. Without reservation I would highly recommend!!
Larry F.
Dan was outstanding. He was friendly, thorough, knowledgeable and very helpful. He always has tips for us that are beneficial to reduce our energy bills, improve the heating and cooling in our house and avoid costly repairs through preventative maintenance. This is the second consecutive time that we've had Dan and hope that he returns next Spring.
Larry
Liz H.
Cates did a wonderful job with our new furnace and A/C installation. Dan was very professional and courteous, explaining our options and answering all of our questions. Cates went above and beyond to get our install done on short notice before family started arriving for Thanksgiving! The installers were great too! We highly recommend Cates!
Sur W.
Both Derrick & Vincent were on time, well organized & informative. Both were very hard workers. New Furnace needed adjustments to fit with old duct work. Derrick did an outstanding job with the needed modifications. They both kept us up-to -date with progress. After a long day, the project was completed with total satisfaction by the homeowners. Super job!!
Jodi G.
Arrived on time. Very polite and professional. Kept the carpets clean with tarps. Would highly recommend.
Michael L.
Dillon and John did a great job relocating out AC condenser and rerouting out furnace exhaust outlet pipe. Looks awesome! Thanks again!
Linda J.
The serviceman quickly adjusted our Aprilaire humidifier and taught us how to regulate it for our best comfort. He trouble shot the thermostat to get it where I wanted it. Excellent!
Margaret C.
I have used Cate's since 1989 and would not go anywhere else. They are a family owned business and honest as the day is long. Prices are better than any I found when looking for a new air conditioner. I give them full 5 stars and then somel
Gail W.
Joe and John were professional and friendly. They answered our questions, and Joe took his time making sure everything was running successfully. Dan explained the different options we could choose from for the HVAC system clearly and followed up after the installation was completed. We were comfortable with these gentlemen in our home. They were very considerate about leaving their work areas in our home clean. We were very impressed with Cates.
Christie S.
Professional, courteous, cautious with our furniture, carpet, etc. They were knowledgeable and showed us how to use our new equipment. Cleaned up after themselves, price was as quoted, even wore booties in our house to keep floor clean! Joe Stephens and Dillon Brooks are amazing and I would recommend Cates to everyone.
Kyle L.
We had our entire HVAC system replaced by Cates and they did a great job. Fair pricing and quality work. Also very responsive to any questions or follow up needs.
Linda P.
This is the second time I’ve submitted this recommendation. For some reason the first one never went through. We have been loyal customers of CATES Heating & Cooling for the past eight years and have always referred this great company to anyone inquiring about AC/Heating services. A few weeks ago, in the middle of a COVID-19 lock down, I called CATES for what I thought was a thermostat problem. I had planned to have a new one installed when AC was checked this late Spring, so had a new one on hand. It was NOT a thermostat problem after all, but the furnace motor was in the process of burning out. CATES once again sent one of their fantastic servicemen, Ryan Peck, who installed the new thermostat and delivered the bad news about the motor. It was very close to the time he was off, but he called a supply company exec at home and arranged for the man to open up his shop for him so he could obtain the required motor. That’s CATES – that was Ryan Peck – going above and beyond their call of duty on a weekend after hours. I highly recommend this fantastic company and their great service people. I always recommend them to family and friends and now I extend that to anyone in need of a reputable, dependable company with great service people like Ryan! Linda & Ron Poplau, KCKS
Jessica F.
Fantastic, Honest Service! Cates will be our go to for all future HVAC business.
We are beyond thrilled that we found Cates!
We were shocked with disappointment after being told by a different company that we "should" replace our entire system for $9k, but to get our AC working again, we needed to replace the AC compressor for $4k.

We had called Cates to get an estimate for a new condenser unit and/or system. The man who answered the phone reassured us that they were interested in helping us make the best decision for our needs. This was already feeling much different than the first company we called.
Cates estimator was not only able to diagnose the actual problem with our condenser (something the other company "overlooked"), but he FIXED the issue (photo of problem) and inspected the rest of our HVAC, in under 1 1/2 hours and for under $100! The rest of our HVAC was in good condition and he recommended we have a tune up done for the summer.
If you're curious who the other company was, feel free to check out my other reviews.
Thank you so much Cates!

Awesome customer service. Fantastic tech!!! Our service tech, Dan, walked me through all the trouble shooting. Made a few adjustments to our noisy furnace. Now it runs quiet and worry free. Even took the time to give me an in depth tutorial on all the crazy functions my thermostat can do (ie heat pump, delay, even change the color on background and font). He also made sure that all the sensors settings were correct and programmed to optimal efficiency. Now my thermostat is as excited for the Super Bowl as I am! GO CHIEFS!!!

Ben was courteous and professional in his time in my home. Diagnosed a relatively simple fix for our issue, and took care of it quickly and efficiently. Thanks Ben!

We have used Cates for our furnace and air condition services for over 25 years. In addition to yearly maintenance service they have also done repairs to them and replaced them. They have done venting adjustments to make the temperature in our home comfortable and their troubleshooting is always right on. All of their staff, from who answers the phone to their service personnel are friendly and knowledgeable.

I use Cates for my home and also another building I'm responsible for. The technicians are knowledgeable and followup on any issues (a rare occurrence) quickly. I've also witnessed some pretty creative troubleshooting when unusual problems crop up.

We wouldn't use anyone else! Cates performs a thorough check up of our HVAC system every year in the Fall & Spring. They never try to oversell you products you don't need and they do an excellent job.

They show up on time and are friendly and professional. I like the new home warranty program too. Been a customer for over 10 years and happily relied on Cates with never a problem or concern. I have wished I had a plumber that I felt the same way about so was pleased to see Cates offers plumbing and electrical services now too. Their new plumber fixed three long term issues and like everyone at Cates was professional, thorough and quick. Now the water comes out of the refrigerator door like it used to instead of taking minutes to fill up a glass of water. I'll try the electrical services out soon too.

I'm a first time customer and couldn't be happier! I called for an appointment and less than 2 hours later my furnace was repaired. The technician, Mark, was super friendly, triple checked everything, and took the time to explain things to me. I highly recommend Cates Heating & Cooling.

EXCELLENT SERVICE.. ON TIME, 2ND GUY WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE.. HOWEVER, STILL WONDERING WHY AN 11 YEAR OLD FURNACE WITH THEIR NAME ON IT NEEDS A $780 PART THIS YEAR AND NEEDED A $350 PART LAST YEAR??

I've been a customer of Cates heating & cooling for over 20 years. In my opinion they are one of the best in their business. Good customer relationship and they have the knowledge and expertise to handle the situation. The employees are professional and completely helpful in explaining to the customer if either having new ac/Htg install or repair work done. I depend on Cates to get the job done right the first time. Good dependable company and a 5 star rating.

I have used the services of Cates for the last several years and it has been a great experience. They come to my house each season and inspect the heating and A/C and make sure they are functioning properly and give an idea of potential problems that may occur in the future. The techs and office staff are always friendly and their response time is great. I recommend Cates anytime I am asked about a heating and A/C company.

This is the most reliable company that I've worked with in a long time.
Greg Schmitt did the bid and was great, very forthcoming and explained all the options. His service man was timely and overly polite. He took out the old replaced all new and cleaned up all the mess. Great company.

Matt came to check out my C/A.
He was very efficient & helpful.
I asked about the inbalance of heating my home due to the placement of the thermostat at one side of my home instead of centrally located which caused the other side of my home to be much colder in the winter.
He gave me a couple of ideas which would help. I will consider one before fall.
Matt represents Cates is a very positive way.

I have been a client of Cates for 20 years now both at my retail store and also at my residence. Although every technician I have met in these past years have been great, I want to say that Ben H. has been so wonderful! I appreciate him explaining the problem and taking care of what needed to be done with such efficiency. In my situation my furnace went out on a Friday and Ben got it running over the weekend waiting to pick up a part on Monday morning to actually fix the problem. I was so impressed the Ben took the time to check with me during the weekend to make sure all was still running and warm. Thanks Cates and THANKS BEN H.!!!!! You are so Great!
